Connection #
The 1 Universe node is powered electrically by a USB cable. Connect it to a USB port on your computer or a 5V USB power adapter with at least 500mA.
Connect your 1 Universe node to your computer or network using an RJ45 cable.
Connect your DMX equipment using a cable suited for DMX data transport.
Default Configuration #
By default, the Node 1 Universe Artnet / sACN is delivered configured in DHCP, with 1 Art-Net input and 1 DMX output.
You can configure your Artnet/sACN NODE with dmx_tools, available via a web page at the following address:
https://www.boutique-electroconcept.com/informations/dmx-tools-hid.html
Click on the Connect button and choose your device in the pop-up window.

You can find the node’s IP address in the Info tab. Enter the IPNow value into your favorite browser’s address bar if you want to access the configuration web page and inspect the DMX packets transiting through your node using the Status Button.
Configuration Menus #
The IP Setting tab allows you to configure the Artnet/sACN node’s IP address based on your network. Ensure that it is compatible with the subnet you are connected to. Choose the protocol you wish to use: Artnet or sACN.

- DHCP or STATIC: Choice of the IP address allocation mode (manual or automatic)
- Device IP (static): Choice of the static IP address of the node
- Device IP MASK (static): Choice of the subnet mask in static mode
- Max Total Universes (1): Number of universes to use locked at 1
- DMX Protocol: Protocol choice between Artnet or sACN
According to the Artnet standard, it is recommended to use networks of type 2.x.x.x or 10.x.x.x with a subnet mask of 255.0.0.0. As a result, the node’s broadcast address will be 2.255.255.255 or 10.255.255.255.
If you choose to connect your node to your home network, such as 192.168.0.x with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, then the broadcast address of your node will be 192.168.0.255.
The DMX 1 Setting tab allows you to configure the behavior of the XLR input/output. If you want to use the node’s XLR port as an input, you will need to use a suitable XLR gender changer.

- DMX: Choice of XLR direction, Output or Input
- Universe OUT: Universe ID to listen to on the network and send to the XLR output
- Universe IN: IN Universe ID to send to the network at the chosen Artnet or sACN address below
- DMX IN -> sACN out Priority: Priority index chosen for the outgoing stream (sACN only)
- DMX IN -> IP Cast Out: Artnet or sACN address to send the stream from the XLR
Attention, by convention in the Artnet standard, the first universe starts at 0. We have chosen to follow the Artnet standard; therefore, for all universe settings, the first universe is called 0 (this applies to sACN universe settings as well).
In Artnet, you can work either in unicast or broadcast:
Artnet Unicast: For reception or transmission, your universe will generally be 0 (up to 4 universes per IP address).
Artnet Broadcast: For reception or transmission, it will correspond to the broadcasted universe number, up to universe number 255.
In sACN, you generally work in Multicast, and all universes are in the Multicast address range of the type 239.255.0.x.
For reception, for example, if you multicast on 239.255.0.1 the first sACN universe, you will need to set the OUT universe to 0.
For transmission, if you want to broadcast the 4th universe on the broadcast address 239.255.0.4, you will need to set the IN universe to 3.
The Device Setting tab allows you to configure your interface name on the network and the DMX refresh rate.

- Long Device Name (63 max): long name of your Artnet/sACN node
- Short Device Name (17 max): short name of your Artnet/sACN node
- DMX OUT: frequency synchronized with the received stream or fixed
- Fps Fixed DMX OUT: DMX refresh rate from 16 to 44 fps
Caution! If you use a Wi-Fi network in your network type or if some of your equipment does not support fluctuations in the DMX refresh rate, prefer the Fixed option in DMX OUT to ensure the best compatibility. Generally, a frequency of 30 frames per second is recognized by most equipment.
The Infos tab contains various information about your Artnet/sACN node and allows you to configure the login and password for the web interface, as well as reset the node to its default values.

- Firmware Version
- IP Now: Current IP of the node
- Serial Number: Internal serial number of the node
- Login Page: NO/YES option to have a login page for accessing the node’s configuration web interface via its IP address
- Login: Username for the login page
- Pass: Password for the login page
- Reset Node: No/Yes option to reset your Artnet/sACN node to its default values
Embedded Web Server: Additional Tools #
On the web configuration page, which can be accessed through a simple browser by entering the IP address of your Artnet/sACN node, in addition to the standard configuration menus, you will find additional tools to manage your Artnet/sACN node:
Save Parameters and Load Parameters to quickly configure your node using a JSON file
Status Page to graphically view the DMX values of the Universes transiting through your Artnet/sACN node

- Save Parameters: Saves the current configuration of your Artnet/sACN node to your computer for sharing
- Load Parameters: Loads a configuration stored on your computer into the web configuration page; once loaded, press Apply
- Status Page: DMX values in transit in your Artnet/sACN node via XLR input/output

The DMX values are displayed in real-time in this window.
