Thank you for purchasing an Electroconcept product.
Please read carefully the following guide before using 2 Universes Art-Net / sACN PoE Node.
Responsibility:
Electroconcept can’t be held responsible for any damage caused by a misuse of any kind such as loss of utilizing, consumable destruction (tapes, CDs, LED Strips, etc.) or any other financial loss due to an unappropriate use of our products or any impossibility to use them; so as any wiring mistake during the installation.
Guarantee:
Electroconcept products benefit from a two years manufacturer guarantee (electronic components only, except consumable ones e.g plastic components). The product must be returned to Electroconcept postage paid and in its original package. If not, the package will be refused and returned to sender. Electroconcept company is in charge of the product restitution.
Are excluded of the guarantee benefits the followings : any damage caused by carelessness, mistake, lack of maintenance by the user (broken, burned, heated, soaked, silted up, etc.); wrong installation or misuse by the user.
All our products are tested before sending to buyers. Modifications of any kind are at your own risk and out of guarantee benefits.

Connection #
The 2 Universes Node is powered via a USB cable. Connect it to a USB port on your computer or a 5 V USB power adapter of at least 500 mA or a RJ 45 cable directly to your computer. Connect your 1 Universe Node to your network using the RJ 45 cable.
Connect your DMX equipment using a suitable DMX data cable.
Default Configuration #
By default, the 2 UNIVERSES Art-Net / sACN PoE Node is configured in DHCP, with 2 Art-Net Inputs and 2 DMX Outputs.
You can configure the Art-Net / sACN PoE Node using dmx_tools, available on an embedded web page at the following address:
https://dmx-tools.electroconcept.fr/
Click on Connect and select your device in the pop-up window, then click on Connect.
The Node’s IP address is in the Info tab. Enter in the IPNow value in the address bar of your favorite browser to access the web configuration page and inspect DMX packets transiting through the Node, using the Status button.
Configuration Menus #
The IP Setting tab allows you to configure the Art-Net / sACN PoE Node IP address based on your network. Make sure it’s compatible with the subnet you’re connected to. Choose the protocol type you want to use, Art-Net or sACN.
- DHCP or STATIC: Choice of IP address Node assignment mode (manual or automatic)
- Device IP (static): Choice of IP address Node in static mode
- Device IP MASK (static): Choice of subnetwork mask in static mode
- Max Total Universe (1 OR 2): Number of universes to use
- DMX Protocol: Choice of protocol Art-Net or sACN
According to the Art-Net standard, preference is given to networks like 2.x.x.x or 10.x.x.x with a subnet mask of 255.0.0.0. As a result, the Node’s broadcast address will be 2.255.255.255 or 10.255.255.255.
If you choose to connect your Node to your domestic network, such as 192.168.0.x with a 255.255.255.0 subnet mask, then your Node’s broadcast address will be 192.168.0.255.
The DMX 1 Setting and DMX 2 Setting tabs allow you to configure the behavior of the XLR Inputs / Outputs. To use the Node’s XLRs as inputs, you must use a male / female XLR adapter.
- DMX: Choice of XLR Output or Input
- Universe OUT: Universe ID to listen to, on the network and, to send to the XLR Output
- Universe IN: IN Universe ID to send to the network to the chosen Art-Net or sACN address below
- DMX IN -> sACN out Priority: Priority level chosen for the outgoing stream (sACN only)
- DMX IN -> IP Cast Out: Art-Net or sACN address to send the stream coming from the XLR
Caution : by convention in the Art-Net standard, the first universe starts at 0. We have chosen to follow the Art-Net standard. Therefore, for all universes settings, the first universe is called 0 (and this also to sACN universes settings).
In Art-Net, you can work either in unicast or broadcast:
Art-Net Unicast: Recepting or transmitting, your universe will generally be 0 (up to 4 universes per IP address).
Art-Net Broadcast: Recepting or transmitting, it will correspond to the broadcasted universe number, up to universe number 255. According to your IP address, your subnet broadcast address will be of the type 2.2555.255.255, 10.255.255 or 192.168.0.255.
In sACN, you generally work in Multicast, and all universes are in the Multicast address range of the type 239.255.0.x
For example, recepting, if you multicast the first sACN universe on 239.255.0.1, you need to set the OUT universe to 0.
Transmitting, if you want to transmit the 4th universe on the broadcast address 239.255.0.4, you need to set the IN universe to 3.
The Device Setting tab allows you to configure your interface’s name on the network and the DMX refresh rate.
- Long Device Name (63 max): Art-Net / sACN PoE Node’s long name
- Short Device Name (17 max): Art-Net / sACN PoE Node’s short name
- DMX OUT: synchronized or fixed frequency according to the received stream
- Fps Fixed DMX OUT: DMX refresh rate from 16 to 44 fps
Caution: If you use a Wi-Fi network in your network type or if some of your equipment does not support fluctuations in the DMX refresh rate, prefer the Fixed option in DMX OUT to ensure the best compatibility. Generally, a frequency of 30 frames per second is recognized by most equipment.
The Infos tab contains various information about your Art-Net / sACN PoE Node. It allows you to configure the web interface login and password, and also to reset the Node to its default values.
- Firmware Version
- IP Now: Node’s Current IP
- Serial number: Node’s internal serial number
- Login Page: NO / YES, option to choose a login page to access the Node’s web configuration interface according to its IP address
- Login: login page unsername
- Pass: login page password
- Reset Node: NO / YES back to default configuration.
Embedded Webserver: Additional Tools #
On the web configuration page, accessible through a simple browser by entering in the Art-Net / sACN PoE Node’s IP address, in addition to the standard configuration menus, you can find additional tools to manage the Art-Net / sACN PoE Node like:
Save Parameters and Load Parameters to quickly configure the Node using a JSON file.
Status Page to graphically view Universes DMX values transiting through the Art-Net / sACN PoE Node.
- Save Parameters: Save the current configuration of your Art-Net / sACN PoE Node to your computer for sharing.
- Load Parameters: Load a configuration stored on your computer to the web configuration page, once loaded, click on Apply.
- Status Page: DMX values in transit in your Art-Net / sACN PoE Node through XLR input / output.
Using the drop down list, you can select the DMX Input / Output to inspect.
